Day 2

Friday, November 12, 2010
Here's Jace eating breakfast in our apartment. We are subletting an apartment from a couple for two months. They are in New York for the holidays so we get to enjoy their apartment. They have a toddler too so it's nice they have stuff we can use for Jace like this high chair seat.
We decided to head over to the windward side of the island and check out Laie and go to see the temple. We stopped along the way and took some photos at a view point. This is what our drive looked like.

When we got to Laie we saw that the temple was having an open house. The inside was redone so they are rededicating it later this month. We were so lucky we went and happened upon it. The inside of the temple was so beautiful. Here's a link with pictures of the redone inside and some more information. http://beta-newsroom.lds.org/article/laie-hawaii-temple-rededication

They make you put on white booties over your shoes so everything in the temple can stay nice and clean. Jace did great but got a little restless. Our tour was translated into Korean so it took a while for the tour guide to say his part and for the translator to translate. We probably should have gotten on an English speaking tour just for the sake of time but Jace did okay and didn't have any major crying.
Here we are after the tour and Jace is ready to take off and explore.

Afterwards we went to Hukilau Beach. We had a great time there. The water was warm and it was a nice sunny day. Jace had fun exploring the beach and even playing in the water. I would hold him on my lap in the water and when a wave came we would stand up. Jace laughed and laughed at that game and wanted to play over and over. It was a great work out for me.

Our little island boy. He's the only one out of the group that probably doesn't need sunblock but we put it on him anyways.
Here's Jace and his dad getting all the sand off after a really fun afternoon at the beach.

I have pictures of Mike and me in front of that sign too! That's where we tried body boarding. Ahh.. nice memories. You're wearing shorts! I'm jealous!

The ocean always looks so blue and welcoming in Hawaii. I can't wait to see the inside of the temple. It was being remodeled when we were there last summer.
