Sheldon is 31

Sheldon turned 31 on October 3rd and I decided it would be fun to plan an overnight trip to the coast.  We stayed in Ocean Shores and had fun swimming in the pool in the hotel, playing on the beach, and exploring the beach town.  I baked a cake for Sheldon and we sang to him and had cake and ice cream.  It was fun to celebrate and to get away for the weekend.  Happy Birthday Sheldon!!  We love you!!!!!!!!!!!
Before we left for our trip Sheldon and Jace took advantage of the nice weather and went out onto the lake for a canoe ride.

We drove by this souvenir shop in Ocean Shores and Jace really wanted to see the shark up close so we had to stop.
We had fun playing in the sand even though it was a little windy and pretty cold.
Of course, Jace had to jump on the bed!
Birthday cake time with a little candle blowing help from Jace.

I bought Sheldon a Roku so we can stream Netflix now.
Birthday breakfast!!

Our hotel had a lighthouse tower with an observation deck.  We climbed to the top and had fun looking out at the scenery.

Sheldon braved the water and went boogie boarding.  Jace and I walked out to watch him and while trying to grab Jace from a wave coming in very fast, I dropped my camera in the water.  It stopped working immediately so these are the last pictures before it broke.  It was still a fun weekend though.

Happy 31st Sheldon!!

Roller Skating Fun

Last month we went with the youth in our ward to the roller skating rink for some fun.  We took Jace along with us and he really wanted to wear his OWN roller skates once he saw everybody else was wearing them.  So we found some in his size and Jace gave his very first roller skating a try.  We had to hold him up the entire time so it was a little difficult for the adults but I'm sure it was a lot of fun for Jace.  He kept asking us to go faster.  I was trying to teach him not to lift up his feet so we could just push him along but he insisted on taking little tiny steps as fast as he could.  It was pretty cute!!

3rd Month in Shelton

So it looks like I uploaded all my pictures in reverse order, but I don't think it will matter too much for this post since it's mostly about what we've been doing this past month.  Mostly, Sheldon just worked and worked, and Jace and I hung out and have finally gotten into a pretty good daily routine.  Sheldon and I joined a gym about fifteen minutes from our house and they don't have a child care center so I have been going to the gym at 5am so I can be home by 7am when Sheldon needs to leave.  He goes to the gym at 7am and then has to be to work at 9am.  The bad part about Sheldon starting work later in the morning is that he doesn't get off until 6pm and he usually doesn't make it home until 6:30 or 6:45.  So, we have gotten used to eating a late lunch so we can eat later dinners with Sheldon.  Every week, I've been taking Jace to different parks around Shelton, the library, and I am hoping to start going to the community pool with him too.  We've also had a few play dates with some new friends too.  We've mostly been hanging around the house and having fun in Shelton.  We are still going to Olympia once a week for some extra fun!
Jace has started hiding from us and likes to hide under blankets and under our bed too.

We play outside a LOT and Jace loves his baseball bat.  He can throw up a ball and hit it with his bat.  I think that's pretty coordinated for a two year old!

Here's an update on our backyard.  It's getting closer to being finished, finally.  They are laying down top soil and hopefully we will have grass soon.

Jace loves playing with his trucks in the dirt in our yard.

We went to the Children's museum last week and had a lot of fun meeting Sheldon at McDonald's for lunch.

It's been raining and Jace loves his new rain boots and rain jacket.

Here he is modeling his new hat and mittens while sitting in the laundry basket.

Jace loves cookies and he often points the Kitchen-aid and asks for cookies.

So....here we are making special Halloween cookies.  It was a fun family activity.  Jace loved the sprinkles.

One day we canoed over to the other side of the lake to one of the swimming areas and Sheldon and Jace went swimming.  We weren't planning on the swimming (since it was cold) so we didn't have any towels.  So after swimming, we put Jace in Sheldon's t-shirt so he could warm up. Jace wanted to wear the shirt all day and a few days after that kept asking for "daddy's shirt."  I've taken Jace out on the canoe a few times this month and we've seen fish and frogs and lots of bugs.

Here's Jace just relaxing watching a show.

And here he is running around crazy in the yard with no shoes.  When the front door opens he likes to make a break for it.
Snack time!
We had a movie night and popped popcorn.  Jace was very happy.

He loves playing with his trucks outside...

and with his dog too.

We actually had a bright enough day that we needed sunglasses!

One morning we looked outside and saw two deer on our lawn.  We went outside and watched them until they left.

It was really cool!!
Some Jace updates- He likes to say, "Oh great" when he is upset about something.  It's pretty cute since he copied that from his dad.  He is doing good with potty training at the house but still wears diapers when we leave the house since he hasn't learned to tell me when he has to go.  He is talking all the time and has learned to count to five.  He is learning his colors and knows red, blue, yellow, green, white, and black.  So far he can identify the letter W and B.  We are still working on the others.  :)  He is doing great eating and drinking with a regular cup and regular utensils.  He is learning so much everyday!
