New Family Pictures

We had our family pictures taken by ShutterSight Photography. We had these taken right after Jace turned one! I was really happy with how they turned out even though Jace didn't really want to look at the camera and got pretty tired of the photo session. Thanks ShutterSight!!

Picture Time

Jace will hardly look at the camera anymore and when he does he likes to give a cheesy grin. I think it's super cute. I love this picture because it shows how tall and strong Jace is getting even though he won't look at the camera. He is one handsome boy!

Some fun Jace Updates

Jace is very good at pointing at things. He does it constantly and always wants to show us what he is looking at.He is obsessed with my water bottle. He takes it and drinks and drinks. Most of the water ends up on his clothes though. If he sees me take a drink then he thinks he needs one too.
He took his first step! He figured out he could stand on his own when I said "clap your hands" when he was standing up holding onto his toy. He did and wasn't holding onto anything. So far he's only taken one step to get from one piece of furniture to the next. He's done it twice now and so far I haven't been ready with the camera when it happened. It's so cute!
I think he will be walking more and more very soon!!

Jace has the best Dad!

We had a great Father's Day this year. Sheldon requested a steak dinner and twice baked potatoes for his celebration. Yummy! I also made him a Texas sheet cake for dessert. Jace and I gave him some new running shoes and Jace really had a lot of fun with the shoe box. It kept Jace entertained for a long time! After dinner we went for a bike ride. We have been going a few times a week now that we have a seat for Jace. We LOVE it! It is so much fun to get outside and Jace loves it too. He sticks his hands out to feel the air on his hands. It's so cute. We really did have a great Father's Day and Jace and I are so lucky to have the best husband and father ever! Thanks Sheldon for always being there for us and taking such good care of us. We love you!!!!!!!!

Outside Please

Okay I think I get the message...

Determined Jace

Jace has started throwing little fits when he doesn't get what he wants. Most of the time I just distract him with another toy or take him into a different room. This particular time he was on the floor being upset about something and in the middle of being upset he is pointing to the light and trying to tell me that he saw the light. Obviously he wasn't that upset.

He just learned what the word "light" means and when I say, "Where's the light," he points at it and smiles. He points out almost every light when we go places now.The other day I was was in the laundry room and when I came back into the living room Jace was sitting up on the couch chewing on the remote controls. He was very happy. I usually put stuff on the top of the couch like my cell phone or my laptop that I don't want him to touch. I guess now I can't use that spot anymore. He has mastered the couch climbing technique.

Look What Jace Can Do!

Jace chases his ball all around the living room. I was able to get a photo of him squatting. He just has to learn how to straighten his legs and then he will be standing up all by himself! He is walking all around with the help of his toy. He loves it and walks with it over and over all day long.

Jace's 1st Birthday Party

We had a really fun birthday party for Jace today with some friends. We had a pinata for the kids and some guessing games for the adults with questions like how much did Jace weigh when he was born and what time was he born. We had a bbq with lots of yummy food and a baby cake for Jace. It was fun to watch him eat it! Once he got a taste of it he wouldn't stop. He was also very interested in the pinata and we let him check it out first before the bigger kids broke it open. We had 13 adults and 10 kids in all and it was overall a really fun party. Jace had a blast playing with the other kids and his clothes were super dirty after it was all over. I guess that would make it a great party for our little Jace! We have had a wonderful year with Jace and I am glad we could celebrate it!!

12 Month Old Jace

Yesterday we celebrated Jace's birthday as a family. We gave Jace a little cake and he went right over to it and put his hand in it. He took a little taste and didn't like it at all. After that he was pretty upset that his hands were so sticky. Then Sheldon decided to put him in the swing and give him a few small bites to eat. Jace kept moving his face away and clenched his mouth shut. So we gave up. Jace was very curious about his cake and kept touching it but just didn't want to eat it! My parents gave Jace some money for us to pick out presents for Jace. We found a great deal on a jogging stroller and bought him a baby swing for our swingset. He loves his swing and will crawl over to it for us to put him in it. We bought him a carrier that can attach to my bike so we can take Jace for bike rides and a new bike helmet. We also got him a stuffed Elmo and when I opened it for him he got a big smile on his face. He wasn't quite sure how to unwrap his gift so I had to help him out. Next weekend we are having a friend party. We couldn't do it this weekend because I spent Friday and Saturday with the young women in our ward for our young women retreat. So by the time Saturday night came I was pretty tired but glad to celebrate in a low key way with just our family. We played on the swing set and had a bonfire. It was a perfect night and so fun to celebrate our son's first year of life.

Jace has changed a lot this past month. He loves playing games. If I say, "Where's Jace," he puts his blanket over his face and then peeks his face out to play peek-a-boo. If I say, "I'm going to get you," he crawls away as fast as he can because he knows I am going to tickle him. He stops after a few crawls to wait for the tickle. It's so cute. He also is cruising with ease around all the furniture and can even put his hands on the wall and walk that way too. He's very close to walking on his own. He just figured out how to walk with his little walker toy and it's so cute watching him take steps. He also claps his hands when I say, "Clap your hands." He doesn't even need me to show him how anymore. It seems like he is understanding a lot and is getting good at communicating with us about what he wants with his gestures or he will crawl over to something to let us know he wants it. His new favorite game is to throw all of his food on the ground and laugh really hard when Lucky eats it-not my favorite game though. He loves going for walks in his stroller and playing outside. Our next door neighbors have chickens and he loves looking through the fence at them. He says momma, dadda, hi, and Jace. His favorite word is dadda by far. He says it over and over all day. He loves to play with his dad and gets so excited when he comes home. He is very interested in the world around him and notices new things right away. He is so much fun and I am so grateful he is our son. We love our little Jace.
