97 Days in Hawaii

Day 97
Tuesday, February 15, 2011
97 days in Hawaii went way too fast!!!!! We had an amazing experience on the island of Oahu and loved every minute of it. We spent our last day packing and we were also able to squeeze in one last trip to Lanikai Beach. We took the red eye flight that night and after five hours in the air we landed in Las Vegas. I can say that I loved going to the beach every day and we will always remember the year we skipped winter and instead enjoyed a tropical paradise.
We had one last picnic on the beach.

Our little beach baby loved his time in Hawaii.

Sheldon had to build one last sand castle.

Jace was so tired after our beach trip he took a late afternoon nap which helped him stay up until our red eye flight took off.
Jace slept as soon as the plane took off and was sound asleep until we landed.
Goodbye Hawaii!!!

Day 96 (Valentine's Day)

Day 96
Monday, February 14, 2011
In the morning we went on the Maunawili Trail. It was about an hour hike and it ended at a beautiful waterfall. We had fun swimming by the waterfall and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. In the afternoon we went to Kahana Bay and afterwards we went to McDonald's for dinner and Jace was so happy playing in the play place. We decided not to get presents for one another and just enjoy our day together as a family since we really didn't have any more room in our suitcases to take anything else back. Being together as a family in such a beautiful place was a wonderful present for all of us!!

At Kahana Bay we had an amazing view of the Koolau Mountains.

Day 89-95

Day 89
Monday, February 7, 2011
Jace and I went to Walmart in the morning for some grocery shopping and I decided to buy him the Cars DVD for the plane ride home. After we got back to the hotel it started raining and didn't stop all day so I decided to let Jace watch the DVD early instead of waiting a whole week for our plane ride home. He LOVED watching all the different cars and it held his interest for a long time. I also bought him a little cars book that we've been reading and he's learning about all the different types of cars. After Sheldon got home we went for a walk along Ala Moana Blvd. and had fun looking at the Ali Wai Canal. Then we headed to Costco for some pizza that we were planning on eating at the beach but it started raining again so that spoiled our plans.

Day 90
Tuesday, February 8, 2011
Jace and I went to the zoo with Karen and her son. We had a a great time and afterwards Jace was so tired he took a very long nap. Later that night Jace threw up and that was the start of Jace being sick again. I was bummed because he was finally better from his cold. I didn't bring my camera to the zoo so I didn't get any pictures.

Day 91
Wednesday, February 9, 2011
Jace and I went to the Hilton Lagoon in the afternoon since he seemed to be feeling better after taking it easy in the morning. Sheldon met us there after work and then we headed to IHOP for dinner. Right after our food was delivered Jace threw up all over the table and that night he threw up three more times and had diarrhea all night. We didn't get any sleep. :(

Jace has learned how to kick a ball and is getting very good at dribbling it. He can run and kick the ball for a long time without stopping. I think that takes some pretty good coordination. I was impressed.

Here's the pre-throw-up picture. We were actually having a good time. Little did we know what would happen next.
Day 92
Thursday, February 10, 2011
After a night of cleaning up after Jace being sick I decided to put Jace on a liquid diet until he could hold down his food. Even though Jace was sick we still headed out of the hotel for some fresh air. We went over to the Hilton Lagoon and this time we saw the parrots. We've never seen them before so I was excited to show Jace when we found them. When Sheldon got home we decided to opt out of any restaurant type establishment since we didn't want a repeat of the night before. So we headed to Ala Moana for a picnic dinner at the beach. Jace had a lot of fun throwing rocks into the ocean and looking at some feral cats we saw at the park.

Jace spent a lot of time in the bath tub the last 24 hours.

Day 93
Friday, February 11. 2011
This was Sheldon's official last day of working at Hickam Air Force Base. Yeah!! We were so excited for him to be done with work so we could have more family time. In the morning Jace and I headed over to Fort Derusy for some play time on the play structure and the Hilton to see the animals. When Sheldon got home from work we headed back over to the Hilton to watch the fireworks.
I was so excited that Jace wanted to eat and wasn't throwing up I decided to take a picture and I had to take a picture to document Sheldon's last day of work in Hawaii.

Day 94
Saturday, February 12, 2011
We headed over to Kailua Beach and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. In the afternoon we went to the Polynesian Cultural Center. We really enjoyed visiting the villages, the luau, and the show. It was such a fun day except I caught Jace's flu bug and was sick for about 12 hours. Luckily I was feeling better by the luau and I was able to eat my dinner.

We stopped at the Laie Point to see the peninsula to snap a quick picture before we went to the PCC.

Jace wanted to learn how to use the Poi balls, chase chickens, play in puddles, and pick up leaves. We missed most of the shows in the villages since Jace was keeping us on his schedule.

We went to the PCC with Brad and Brian, two of Sheldon's classmates who are also in Hawaii for their optometry rotations.

Day 95
Sunday, February 13, 2011
We checked out of our hotel and moved into a cottage in Kailua until we leave Oahu on the 15th. In the backyard is a stream and lots of trees and greenery. It feels like we have a jungle in our backyard. We also went to Lanikai Beach to take some family photos on our FAVORITE beach. Only two more days left in Oahu. :(

We found two geckos in our cottage and Jace is obsessed with trying to spot them. He is constantly looking up at the ceiling hoping to see one. It's been fun to be in Kailua away from the city and enjoy the beauty of the east side of Oahu.
Look in the corner above the fridge to see the gecko.
