Last Week in Havasu

This was the start of our last week in Lake Havasu and Sheldon's last week as a student!! I decided to take some pictures of our rental house so we could remember where we spent a month and a half in Arizona while Sheldon worked at Eyes of Arizona as a student intern.
Here's Jace in his high chair enjoying a cookie. Does this boy ever eat anything that's good for him??? Seriously though...getting him to eat right has been pretty hard since he discovered sweets. It's a good thing he still enjoys healthy food too!!

Here's Jace's room. He loved the motorcycle decor and has been sleeping in a pack n' play.
Here's Jace's bathroom. He's learned the words moon, star, and sun and pointed them out on a daily basis. :)

And......the pool!! This was the highlight of our rental house and we enjoyed swimming everyday. After Sheldon got off work each day he would take Jace swimming while I finished dinner. We enjoyed many dinners outside by the pool.

Sewing Can Be Fun!!

Last fall we lived with Sheldon's sister, Heidi, and she promised to help teach me how to sew. She gave me some great sewing lessons and put up with all my questions. With her help I made an apron and quilt. She took pity on me and helped me bind my quilt and finish up my apron for me since I was so slow and kept making mistakes. I also worked with my sister, Natalie, on making ties for Jace and Sheldon. So, for my birthday I requested my very own sewing machine and since that time I have made another apron, a pillow case, and a quilt for Jace. It's been fun to learn something new and learn how to sew but I still have a lot to learn. Thanks Heidi and Natalie for teaching me and thanks mom and dad for the sewing machine!!




When I was a teenager I would have never thought that I would WANT to sew since I was so anti crafting and anything similar to it. I was so into sports I hated having to sit down and do anything. But I've learned sewing can be fun!!!!!

23 Months

Jace turned 23 months on May 5. I can't believe he is only one month away from turning 2!! He has grown up so much this past year. He is talking all the time and loves to say, "cool" when he sees something he likes. He has LOVED the pool in our rental house and wants to go swimming everyday. He loves playing with his train set and toy cars. He also has enjoyed the babysitting area at the gym we joined and he also loves nursery. He has started getting used to other people watching him and doesn't seem as clingy as he was a few months ago. Jace is also doing so much better at the grocery store and doesn't seem to mind sitting in the grocery cart anymore. It's been fun to watch him grow up to an almost two year old and understand the world around him. We love this little boy!!!

Iron Girl

My little sister, Natalie, and I competed in the Las Vegas Iron Girl Triathlon on April 30. It was a sprint triathlon that included a half mile swim, 14 mile bike ride, and 5k run. It was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work but I'm glad we did it. Natalie beat me by half an hour on the bike but we were neck and neck in the swim and the run. I guess riding a mountain bike that I've never ridden before wasn't such a good idea but I am just glad I did it! I seriously thought I was going to die on the bike ride! Next time I do Iron Girl I'm getting a road bike for sure and Natalie will have some real competition. It was fun to compete in all women race and I really did feel empowered by participating. Here's to a great way to kick off my 30's!!

We didn't wear wetsuits and the water was in the low 60's. It took me about ten minutes into my bike ride before I could feel my legs.

They had emergency blankets for the athletes after finishing since it was such a cold and windy day.


Sheldon told me Jace said, "Mommy," every time he saw an athlete with a yellow shirt. After the race he wouldn't let me put him down. He was very worried about his mommy and wanted me back ASAP.
They marked our bodies with our bib number and on our calf they put our age. Mine was a big 30!

Lake Havasu

Last week we met Sheldon at the lake after work for a fun picnic by the water. Afterwards we had fun exploring the shore and Sheldon and Jace even went in the cold water. It's been in the 90's and even some days in the 100's here so I think the water is going to warm up really quickly. It's still kind of cold though so I just watched them from my beach chair. They are so brave.

More Easter Fun

We celebrated Easter with our little family in Lake Havasu. Saturday night before Easter we dyed Easter eggs and Jace was very interested in helping and touching everything. Then on Sunday, before church, we had an Easter egg hunt. Jace found all his eggs and kept looking for more so we took the ones he already found and hid them over again. We did a hunt four times with the same eggs! Of course Jace enjoyed his candy and had a lot of fun hunting for eggs. We had a wonderful Sabbath at church and reflected on all our Savior has done for us. We are truly blessed.




Jace did not want to put the stickers on his dyed eggs. Instead he decided his stomach was a better place for them.
Egg Hunt Time!!



Jace refused to look at the camera after he was all dressed up for church. I don't think he was too happy about putting clothes on. He's on a diaper only kick right now. :)

Happy Easter!!

Easter Party

The weekend before Easter Jace and I were in Las Vegas while Sheldon flew to Portland to take his last board examination before he graduates. Sheldon got home on Saturday night so my mom decided to celebrate Easter on Sunday, a week before the real Easter so our family could celebrate too. She had a yummy dinner for us, a fun Easter egg hunt, and presents. Jace loved it all and even figured out he needed to pick up the eggs and put them in his basket. Thanks mom and dad for including us in a fun Easter celebration!!



The Easter grass was a big hit. The kids had fun throwing it around the house. Sorry mom and dad. :)


Here's Jace reaching for an egg and below he is enjoying the train set his grandparents gave him.

He figured out he can open the eggs if he puts them in his mouth and bites down. He's a smart little boy to figure out the fastest way to the candy!! He likes to put the whole candy in his mouth, wrapper and all!! I had to watch him close so I could unwrap the candy for him.
