Sheldon graduated from Pacific University on May 21, 2011 with a doctor of optometry degree! It took him four years to complete his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. He had one year in between undergraduate and graduate school where he studied for the OAT (optometry admission test) and retook some classes. It took him four years to complete his degree from Pacific University. So that makes a total of 9 years that Sheldon has worked to become an optometrist. I couldn't be prouder of my husband and I am so happy for his accomplishment. That degree symbolizes a lot of sacrifice by him and also our family too.
There were two ceremonies. The first one was just the college of optometry where they presented him with his doctoral hood and welcomed the graduates to the profession. The second ceremony was with all the health sciences programs so it took a little longer. He was hooded at this ceremony and given his actual diploma. Sheldon's mom, sister, nephew, aunt, and uncle were able to come and my parents came as well. Thanks everyone for coming and supporting Sheldon on such an important day for our family!!

Afterwards we went back to the rental house and had a family party for Sheldon. We had dinner, cake, and presents.
