It was raining all day so Sheldon and I decided to try and find an indoor mall where Jace could play. We headed to Aiea for the Pearlridge Mall. We got stuck in traffic for an hour and a half on the freeway. It was crazy and really frustrating. When we finally go to the mall we weren't disappointed. They had two play lands for kids. One was kind of like Chuck E. Cheese and one had a bunch of inflatable bounce houses. Jace was in heaven and we were glad to watch him have so much fun. He was so sweaty after climbing and jumping in the bounce houses. Afterwards we went and drove around Pearl Harbor. It was dark and Jace was asleep so we didn't get any pictures. We had another great day in paradise even though it wasn't at the beach.

We headed to the North Shore to hike Waimea Falls. They let you swim near the waterfall so Sheldon and I took turns swimming over to the falls. Jace also enjoyed the water. The hike was so beautiful. It started raining on us on the way back and it was paradise. It was warm and raining and we had the most beautiful scenery around us. Jace noticed that people wear flowers behind their ears here so every time he sees flowers he picks them and wants us to put them behind his ear. At the end of the hke Jace had fun looking at a Peacock that was running around the gardens.

After our hike we headed over to BYU Hawaii and we ate dinner in the student cafeteria. It was buffet style and we stuffed ourselves silly. We were starving! Sheldon's giving BYU a thumbs down but I guess BYU is good enough he can eat their food. Sheldon's an avid Ute fan but I'm sure he will cheer them on when Jace is playing for BYU. :)

Day 42

After our morning at the swap meet we headed over to Sandy Beach. The waves were pretty big so Jace and I had fun just playing on the shore and Sheldon headed out in the water for some body boarding. There was also a beautiful sunset.

Day 43

We decided to go and check out the swap meet at the Aloha Stadium. It was packed with people all trying to buy for Christmas. We had fun looking at all the stuff for sale and Jace especially liked the motorized toys that were out to attract buyers.

We decided to go hike to the top of Diamond Head. It's a 1.6 mile hike round trip. It should have been a quick hike but nothing is ever quick with an 18 month old! Jace wanted to do some of the hike himself. He was walking up a pretty steep part for a little boy and he put his hands up in the air to help him up the trail. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the top. The view of Oahu was breath taking.
Before we started there was a helicopter going to the top of Diamond Head because there was an injured hiker they were picking up at the top and flew him down to the EMT's waiting at the field where we were standing. Jace was memorized by the helicopter and was also scared. He held onto Sheldon for dear life.

The hike went through a tunnel and had two long flights of stairs. The hike was worth it because the view was so amazing. It was really crowded up at the top and we could barely take this picture because there were so many people around us. I guess that's what we get for going on the hike during Christmas break when there were tons of tourists everywhere!

And here's Jace getting all cleaned up after a fun day together as a family

Hiking Diamond Head was one of my favorite activities in Honolulu. I'm glad you were able to finally go too. The sights from the top are gorgeous!
